Studio Jai Journeys are for beginning Yoga students, but allow yogis of all levels to expand their practice in new ways. Based on the teachings of Sri Swami Satchidananda (pictured below), a disciple of Sivananda, Integral Yoga is known internationally for its therapeutic emphasis and integration of the various limbs of Yoga.
- Hatha Yoga: physical postures, breathing practices, and deep relaxation techniques
- Karma Yoga: self-less service (Studio Jai sponsors volunteer opportunities at children’s homes in Pokhara, as well as gardening and maintenance in Anadu village).
- Raja Yoga: meditation techniques
“The goal of Integral Yoga, and the birthright of every individual, is to realize the spiritual unity behind the diversity throughout creation and to live harmoniously as members of one universal family,” (IYTA 2010).
Deborah (Jayanthi) Somerville, certified to teach Integral Yoga Hatha, began her studies 15 years ago, with many teachers and styles world-wide. Integral Yoga is the easeful, peaceful, useful Yoga style that Deborah searched the world for, and now shares with her students.
Studio Jai Journeys offer twice daily Integral Yoga classes which incorporate the various limbs, for an experience of harmony and health. Students are encouraged to explore each posture at their own pace. By balancing effort and surrender, discover the flow of energy to achieve greater flexibility, strength, poise, and mental focus. Discover your true nature: peace and happiness.
